NFL Championship Weekend Playoff Predictions

Well the first game this weekend will be Green Bay at Chicago. I see Green Bay winning this one. The Bears have no NFL receivers and they are in the bottom third of the league in most offensive categories. Green Bay will eat them up today. In the late game the Jets have been very quiet this week and that is not their game. I just don't see them winning in Pittsburgh. These are the games that Big Ben wins. The Pittsburgh Steelers defense is going to eat up the Jets offense. I think the Steelers have the potential to blow out the Jets today. What are your thoughts let us know on our St. Louis Rams Blog.

Rams Shurmur New Coach Of Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have hired St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to be their new head coach. Pat Shurmur is probably best known for being the nephew of Fritz Shurmur. This is another interesting NFL head coaching decision. While being the offensive coordinator with the St. Louis Rams the Rams finished 32nd and 26th in scoring the past two seasons. While it is true that Shurmur did not have a lot to work with in St. Louis he also did not show us much. This is another NFL coaching hire of a coach with NO head coaching experience at an level. Shurmur was a tight ends or quarterback coach for almost 20 years in the NFL before getting the offensive coordinator job with the Rams. It is possible that Shurmur will just be a yes man of puppet for current Browns president Mike Holmgren. The St. Louis Rams must now start the search for a new offensive coordinator. I personally will not miss Shurmur but it is never good to have a young quarterback changing coordinators. Hopefully the Rams will bring in someone that is qualify and not just a member of the Steve Spagnuolo coaching tree.

St. Louis Rams 2011 Opponents

The list of St. Louis Rams 2011 opponents has been released. If you just look at the numbers I believe their schedule to be misleading. The year of the cupcake is over and the Rams will be in for some tough contests in 2011.

The Rams 2010 opponents coming into the season had a winning percentage of .449 in 2009. On paper that gave the St. Louis Rams the second easiest schedule in the NFL in 2010. The St. Louis Rams 2011 opponents had an overall winning percentage of .477 in 2010 however their schedule looks to be much tougher in 2011. If you throw out the NFC West records the St. Louis Rams will play teams with a combined winning percentage of .538 in 2011. Those teams include Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati and New Orleans at home and Dallas, the New York Giants, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Green Bay on the road. Five of these 10 teams made the NFL playoffs in 2010.

The St. Louis Rams will need to get much better in 2011 to compete with these teams. Philly, Baltimore, New Orleans , Pittsburgh and Green Bay seem to be good year after year. In addition Dallas should be much improved in 2011 as well. The Rams need a strong free agent period and a great draft to keep making strides in today's NFL.

Actual game dates and times will be released in April 2011.

NFL Wild Card Weekend Playoff Predictions

Over the last three years road and home teams are both 6-6 during the NFL Wild Card weekend. This weekends slate of games looks like another year were two or three road teams could be victorious. You can easily make cases for all four road teams to win this weekend. I am going to go against this trend. New Orleans should be able to handle Seattle without an issue. I like Peyton at home in a night game, Sanchez has not shown me he can win this type of game this year. I like the Chiefs running game against the Ravens who are getting old and have a pedestrian offense. The Eagles and Packers should be a great one, this one is a toss up by I like the birds. What are your thoughts let us know on our St. Louis Rams Blog.

Sleepy In Seattle

First props to the St. Louis Rams for their 7-9 season after finishing 1-15 in 2009. Tonight the St. Louis Rams were just terrible in a 16-6 lost to the Seattle Seahawks at Quest Field, making the Seahawks the NFC West Champion at 7-9. The Seahawks will move on to play the New Orleans Saints in the first round of NFL playoffs.

The Rams playing their most important game in six years picked a bad night to play their worst game of the year. I don't believe any Rams team member was without fault tonight. Steve Spagnuolo failed to challenge a couple of calls and again seemed to have the handcuffs on the Rams offense. Pat Shurmur was less than imaginative. I believe every Rams receiver dropped a pass, none bigger than a bomb to Danario Alexander with 10 minutes to play and the Rams trailing 13-6. Alexander let the ball go right threw his hands at the Seattle 20 yard line. Sam Bradford was less than stellar going 19 of 36 for a meager 155 yards and one terrible interception with the Rams down 7 in the 4th quarter. On defense Craig Dahl and Chris Long easily had their worst games of the year. Long was absolutely manhandled for three hours while Dahl missed a ton of open field tackles. The Seahawks who came into the game dead last in rushing yards were able to run for 141 yards against the Rams many of those to the right, through the hole mainly vacated by Chris Long. On offense the Rams had seven 3-and-out drives, ran 54 plays for 184 total yards. Just a sad way to end a very surprising season.

As Vinnie Sees it - Week 17 Vince Vitale

Last week after collecting 80 points I moved into 7th place out of 36 in the Suicide Fantasy Football celebrity blogger league. I would like to thank all of the guys over at Suicide Fantasy Football for putting together a great product that has worked well all year. The concept behind this league is a great one and I have really enjoyed playing all year, and look forward to playing next year as well. I urge everyone to check it up and sign up with your friends next year it is a blast. I was hoping to win the celebrity blogger league but the highest I ever climbed was into 5th place still not too bad. With a nice week this week I have a shot to finished 6th but any higher is probably unrealistic. If I have a complete failure this week I should still finish in the top 8. It has been a great ride but I never could get that huge week to put me over the top. With few stars left on my roster I am hoping for 80 points again this week at most, and I will be very lucky to get that.

At quarterback I am going to go with Tim Tebow at home against the San Diego Chargers. I am just hoping to get some solid rushing yards from Tim against the Chargers who I do not believe will be to inspired to play today. At running back I have Shonn Greene at home against the Buffalo Bills. The Jets who will be the 6th seed in the AFC will most likely rest LT today so I look for Greene to finally get some action against the Bills. I also have Ryan Mathews going against the Denver Broncos. I am hoping with Mike Tolbert injured Matthews will finally see a lot of action in this one. As you can see week 17 is all about having a lot of hope and wishing for some good luck. My two wide receivers this week will be Mario Manningham who somehow I never used during the season. The Giants face a must win and Mario should have at least 5 catches against the Washington Redskins. I also have Percy Harvin coming off a great Monday night game against the Eagles. As you know I picked on the Lions defense almost every week so I might as well do it one more time. I look for Harvin to get at least one long ball in this one. At Tight End I will go with Brent Celek of the Eagles playing in a meaningless game against the Dallas Cowboys. I think with Kevin Kolb starting at QB Celek will get a lot of dump off throws while Kolb tries to stay alive against Demarcus Ware. At kicker we are rolling out Sea Bass - Sebastian Janikowski. He is one of the highest scoring fantasy kickers in 2010 and the Raiders continue to put up points and play hard every week. I look for the Chiefs to be tough in the red zone and force Oakland into some field goals.

Well that's it for this year. I will the final standings this week. I hope to finish in 6th place but we will see. Again I thank Suicide Fantasy Football for their great new game and I hope to see all of you playing next year for fun and prizes.

Brawl For It All Goes Prime Time

The NFL has moved the St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks game to Sunday night at 7:20PM CST. In essence this is a playoff game with the winner claiming the NFC West crown.

The St. Louis Rams have not played in prime time since their 41-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night Dec. 20, 2007 at the Edward Jones Dome.

The last time the St. Louis Rams played in the playoff was 6 years ago when they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 27-20 at Quest Field. The Rams finished the 2004 season 8-8, do you believe in karma?

Where will you be to watch the brawl for it all Sunday night?
