St. Louis Rams Hire Jeff Fisher

Well the courtship of Jeff Fisher between the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams finally came to an end on Friday as it was announced that Jeff Fisher will be the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Stan Kronke got his man and in Fisher the Rams fans get what they have wanted for over a decade, an experienced head coach to take over their struggling franchise.

Just those two small words (Jeff Fisher) make you feel the Rams are tenacious. Jeff Fisher was a small scrappy 5'-10" 185 lb cornerback from USC and a 7th round pick of the Chicago Bears back in 1981. Fisher managed to made the team and play for the Bears for 4 seasons. In 1985 Fisher started his coaching career with the Bears as their defensive assistant, and has coached 26 seasons in the NFL. Fisher was head coach of the Tennessee Titans where he had a 142-120 record.

Last year the San Francisco 49ers hired Jim Harbaugh another former Chicago Bears player and they immediately took on his personality. If the Rams have the same luck Jeff Fisher will instill in them a hard-nosed scrappy punch you in the mouth attitude that was severely lacking under Steve Spagnuolo's 4 pillar approach.

St. Louis Rams - Titans Week 2 Preview

The St. Louis Rams will play game 2 of the preseason Saturday night at the Edward Jones Dome against the Tennessee Titans. The Rams coming off of a tremendous 33-10 victory last week against the Colts will look to keep up their solid play against the short-handed Titans. The Titans who finished last in the AFC South last year at 6-10 will be without their star running back Chris Johnson who is still holding out. In addition to Johnson being out WR Kenny Britt will also most likely not play, the league is looking at possible disciplinary action for some offseason issues Britt had with the law. The Titans seem to be on their way down while the Rams seem to be on their way up. In the offseason the Titans lost their head coach Jeff Fisher in addition to QB Vince Young. The Titans seem to be in a transition phase and part of that transition may include surprise first round draft pick, and 8th overall QB Jake Locker. Jake Locker played well in relief of Matt Hasselbeck going 7 of 10 for 89 yards and 1 touchdown in a 14-3 Week 1 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. With Chris Johnson out Jamie Harper led the Titans in rushing last week with 8 carries for 27 yards. Harper is a 4th round draft pick out of Clemson. The Titans spread the ball to 11 different receivers in Week 1 while they showed a nice 26-28 pass/run balance. I think new head coach Mike Munchak will have his work cut out for him in 2011.

According to the St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo, the starters may play the entire first half on Saturday night, and the includes RB Steven Jackson. Jackson normally sees very little action in the preseason but has also stated that he would like to play as long as the first unit is on the field. The Rams ran well behind Harvey Dahl last week and I am looking forward to watching Jackson pound the rock over the right side. WR Mike Sims-Walker should debut for the Rams Saturday night as well. Sam Bradford who looked ok last week should have all of his weapons heading into this game. I know this is only a week 2 preseason game but after last week I would be pretty disappointed if the Rams do not seriously outplay the Titans at least up until halftime.

NFL Kisses New England Patriots Ass Again!

Let's face it the NFL has kissed the New England Patriots ass since 9/11. This team has gotten call after call for 8 years now, when will it end? Well apparently no time soon. After last Sunday when the Patriots embarrassed the Tennessee Titans 59-0, the league actually had the nerve to fine two Titans players for touching Tom Brady. Chris Hope was fined $10,000 for a helmet to helmet hit, and Tony Brown was fined $5,000 for touching Brady's helmet. I saw both hits and Giselle Bundchen smacks Tom on the ass when he leaves the house harder than these two hit him.

The person who should have been fined is Jeff Fisher. The Patriots who were up 45-0 at halftime came out with all of their starters in to start the 3rd quarter in a snow storm! Not only that but the Patriots were in the shotgun on the first play of the drive, and ended up going 65 yards in 9 plays (6 of them passes!!!) to go up 52-0! Jeff Fisher you should be fined for not having your players take care of this. It is time for teams to step up and punch the Patriots in the mouth. Your players should have been livid, instead they just laid down. Teams should come out and hammer Wes Welker within the 5 yard area and bring pressure and lay some shots on Brady. Penalties be damned let's bring the pain to the Patriots, the NFL, and ESPN.
