The offseason is the time to be optimistic and over the top so I am going to start
with the following statement; tomorrow could be the biggest day in St. Louis Rams history since February 3, 2002 when Adam Vinatieri made the game-winning 48-yard field goal as time expired in Super Bowl XXXVI. That's right I will say it, Sam Bradford's Pro Day workout on Monday March 29th could go down as a huge day in Rams history.
On his Pro Day Sam Bradford will throw for NFL team scouts and executives in Norman Oklahoma on Monday at 11AM. Sam will perform only throwing drills, no running or lifting will be included. The Rams recently met with Bradford in Florida and will take a very close look at him on Monday. All eyes will be on Bradford's surgically repaired throwing shoulder which cost him most of his season.
Sam Bradford is best known for his accuracy. Bradford now at 6'4" and 235 pounds completed almost 68 percent of his passes while at Oklahoma for 88 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Bradford's accuracy and velocity on Monday could be worth millions. Experts have it 50/50 on the St. Louis Rams drafting either Sam Bradford or Ndamukong Suh with the first overall pick on April 22nd in the 2010 NFL Draft.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay says the top pick in this year's draft is Bradford's to lose
CBS - A good day from Bradford, and it makes sense for a team that needs both a face of the franchise and a legitimate starting quarterback to go with it to make Bradford the No. 1 choice
Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post agrees that the Rams will draft Sam Bradford with the first overall pick in next month's draft as long as his pro day goes well on Monday.
Fans as well seem to have Bradford and Suh in an ongoing toss up. People point to Bradford as an injury risk coming off shoulder surgery. This is just a case of what have you done for me lately. Ndamukong Suh also had season ending knee surgery back in 2005 but that is no longer mentioned. If the best doctors in the country say Bradford is fine than he is fine. Anyone can be hurt on any play in the NFL.
As a fan I want to see the franchise quarterback selected. I don't want to continue to watch the Rams average a pitiful 10.9 points per game. The New Orleans Saints led the league with 510 points scored and went on to win the Super Bowl. Back in 1999 the St. Louis Rams led the NFL in scoring and went on to win Super Bowl XXXIV. Give me the stud QB. Bradford has all the tools, he scored 36 on the Wonderlic test, has great size and athletic ability, and has deadly accuracy.
The Rams last three first round draft picks were Adam Carriker, Chris Long, and Jason Smith, so far we have received basically no production from these players. I do not understand the fear people talk about with picking Sam Bradford #1 overall. Teams draft players every year that do not pan out, don't be afraid just select the right players. I believe Sam Bradford is the right player.
