St. Louis Rams Finally Retire Deacon Jones #75
The St. Louis Rams announced on Monday that they will retire Deacon Jones #75 jersey during a 2009 home game. Deacon Jones was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980 and is arguably the best NFL defensive end of all time. Deacon Jones was credited for coining the term "sack". In addition Jones also had the great quote during a Keith Jackson interview "I've got to be the baddest dude I know of. Jones is possibly the all time leader in sacks, however the NFL did not measure sacks officially until 1982. This is a long overdue award from the Rams organization. I can't wait to go to the ceremony down at the Edward Jones Dome. Jones list of awards include two-time NFL defensive player of the year, eight pro bowl selections, and he was also selected to the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team. Simply put Deacon Jones is one of the best football players of all time. All Rams fans should look forward to watching #75 be raised to the roof.
