NFC West Coaches Taking A Pounding
The NFC West coaches are taking a pounding early in the 2008 NFL Season. Scott Linehan was fired four games into the season and now Mike Nolan of the San Francisco 49ers has been fired after their first seven, going 2-5. The Whiner fans have been calling for Nolan's head for a while now. Long time Chicago Bears great Mike Singletary will be the interim head coach. Singletary has been after a head coaching job for a while now, maybe this will be his big break. The word has been that Singletary does not interview well, well now he does not have to interview. The Niners were 18 and 37 under Nolan seemingly not making many great strides this year. Nolan like Linehan seemed to be a nice guy in the middle of a huge mess looking for a way out. Nolan is most hated by the fans for trading a 1st round pick to the New England Patriots.
With Mike Holmgren as a lame duck coach in Seattle, Ken Whisenhunt of the Arizona Cardinals will be the longest tenured head coach in the NFC West with 12 months of experience. The NFC West has a combined record of 9-16 and two of their head coaches have been fired. The future is so bright they may want to watch their back!
