Rams Select Chris Chamberlain With The 228th Pick

St. Louis Rams Select Chris Chamberlain with 228th Pick

The St. Louis Rams selected Chris Chamberlain LB/S - Tulsa with the 228th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. NFL.com says Chamberlin was the guy who ended up wowing scouts with his incredible workout. His measurables and skills are impressive. He has a chance to compete for a roster spot and should be a good special teams player. (6-1 5/8, 226), ran the (40) in 4.75 and 4.67, had a 34.5” Vertical jump, 9’6” broad jump, 4.09 short shuttle, 6.87 (3 cone). He worked out at the safety position and looked very good. Chris is another great athlete and possible special teamer. Chris made over 350 tackles in college and may project to SS in the Pros.

Rams Select David Vobora With The 252nd Pick

St. Louis Rams Select David Vobora with 252nd Pick - Larry Johnson

The St. Louis Rams selected David Vobora LB - Idaho with the 252nd overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. David Vobora is now the 2008 Mr. Irrelevant. David is another great athlete and possible special teamer. David made over 330 tackles in college while at Idaho. Scott Linehan use to be a coach at Idaho so maybe he knows more about David than most? Mel Kiper said on ESPN that he thinks David will make the St. Louis Rams roster. I am not a big Mel Kiper fan but it is good to know that at least he did not see this pick as a joke as some do. Just remember Tom Brady was a 6th round draft choice, and Marques Colston was a 7th round pick.

St. Louis Rams Draft Grades

Well I am not a big fan of NFL draft grades but since everyone seems to want to know my thoughts I thought I would just share with you a few of the many St. Louis Rams draft grades out on the internet already. I would like to point out that zero of the 252 players drafted have ever played one player in the NFL. Grades? Hmmmmmmm I don't think it is quite time for grades yet, but some publications do, so enjoy. Overal the St. Louis Rams seem to be getting about a C average on there NFL draft grade. I sure hope we can move to the front of the class in 2008.

YAHOO C+
Long should be an impact player right away and boosts the grade, but the rest of the class leaves a lot to be desired. Taking smallish Avery over Devin Thomas or James Hardy was a head-scratcher. Avery put up big yardage numbers as a senior but scored “only” seven touchdowns, and rarely played against the kind of competition Thomas and Hardy faced. Greco could eventually develop into a starter. King has all the skills but can’t seem to put it together.

USA TODAY C+
Much internal debate but they went with Chris Long, seeking some pressure from the edge, over DT Glenn Dorsey. Only got 5½ sacks from DEs last year and Leonard Little will soon be 34. Looks like not only a safe pick but a good one. WR Donnie Avery went too high but the Rams love the speed and have the positional need. CB Justin King should be the nickel back right away. They failed to address their o-line issues.

DRAFTSEASON B-
The Rams made the right call by taking Chris Long at no. 2 overall, as Adam Carriker is better suited to play inside. They reached badly when they made Donnie Avery the first receiver off the board. They rebounded nicely with two day 2 steals; Justin King in the 4th and Roy Schuening in the 5th.

CBS SPORTSLINE B
I love Long and second-round receiver Donnie Avery is a perfect slot receiver for their offense.

Best pick: Defensive end Chris Long, the second player taken in the draft, will be a star. He was my top-rated player in the draft.

Questionable move: Passing on Dorsey to take Long. Their careers are now tied together for as long as they play.

Second-day gem: Cornerback Justin King is an athletic corner who didn't always play up to his ability. Maybe defensive coordinator Jim Haslett can get it out of him.

FREEP C+

2007 St. Louis Rams Draft Recap

Well the 2008 NFL Draft is upon us. The St. Louis Rams are looking for immediate impact with the #2 overall pick in the draft. Everyone is always excited in April about the draft and the possibilities, talking about how that one player can turn your franchise around. There do not seem to be any Peyton Manning's or LT's in this years draft but who knows. I would like to talk about last years draft to see how much impact we can expect. If you look at the table below you will see what the Rams received out of their 2007 draft picks. As you can see from the 8 draft picks that we had, they totaled less tackles than most middle linebackers in the NFL and Brian Leonard provided the only offense from the draft with 486 total yards. If these are the results we get from the 2008 draft we will be in big trouble. Can Chris Long, Jake Long, or Glenn Dorsey help this team out right now? Are you shocked at these stats? Do you see that Clifton Ryan who we drafted in the 5th round, on paper provided as much to the Rams as Adam Carriker our 1st round selection? Bill Devaney will need to get our draft ship pointed in the right direction in 2008. Just some food for thought before people get on the kool-aid heavy.

2008 St. Louis Rams Schedule - Freak Out

Well the 2008 St. Louis Rams Schedule has been released and it is causing a major panic on the internets. Why? These schedules are announced way in advance. Sure the order of the schedule seems tough with Philly, NYG, and Seattle all sitting there. However let's face it if we are going to be a playoff team you have to beat Seattle. Philly was 8-8 last year, and last April you would have had the Giants on your schedule and not said a word. Here is a heads up in 2009 we have to play the Colts. What will we do? I will tell you what we need to do, we need to improve and not worry about the schedule. Worry about can Bennett play as well as Bruce. Can Culberson a street free agent start 16 games at LB? Will Barron close his mouth and play some football in 2008? Will Linehan let Saunders re-create a steam rolling offense? These are our issues, not the schedule. We are 0-0 and so is everyone else.

Kansas City Chiefs Fans Call Us Out!!!

Someone named Scott has called St. Louis Rams fans Fairweather, on a Chiefs board. This is a very interesting article and I would like Rams fans to stand up and take a stand based on these comments. If you wish to reply go to The Chiefs Fansided Forum . Is KC really a better football town then St. Louis?

Below is From Scott on a Kansas City Chiefs forum:

I won't say I'm exactly a Rams hater but...
If there's one thing that makes me sick it's Fairweather Fans.
I live in Jefferson City (dead center of Missouri). Naturally, being about the same distance from KC and STL there are a lot of fans of both the Chiefs and Rams. There's one difference though - The Chiefs fans are loyal 100% of the time.

Generally, Rams fans here are what you'd call "Fairweather Fans". When the Rams first came to St. Louis they sucked. They sucked hard. No one was a Rams fan. All of the sudden they win a Super Bowl and everyone has always loved them! All along! There's blue and gold merchandise everywhere.

Then the team starts to slide again and the Rams stuff is buried in the bowels of the closet. Not to be seen. Chiefs fans here are different. We wear our Red, White, and Gold with pride no matter what. Even last season. And don't even get me started on Cards vs. Royals.
Is it like this anywhere else? And are Chiefs fans always this loyal or are Rams fans just that shallow?

Howard Balzer Would Not Draft Glenn Dorsey

Today Stlsportsinsider posted what Howard Balzer thoughts are about the St. Louis Rams possibly drafting Glenn Dorsey. Nice to see someone that agrees with me. I have said all along that Dorsey is the biggest bust risk in the draft at the top. A 300 pounder with knee problems and playing on astroturf at least 8 games a year is just too big a risk. Would you draft Glenn Dorsey?

National Football writer and Sirius Satellite Radio Host Howard Balzer said on his local radio show on Team 1380 Tuesday that he thinks Glenn Dorsey will need to have surgery at some point, and he called him a "walking time bomb" with a clear issue with his tibia.

Balzer talked about how the Rams drafted Damione Lewis at 12 overall in 2001 even though he had issues with his foot, and Lewis ended up breaking his leg in his rookie season, needing 2 surgeries. Lewis wasn't even able to start running until mid-August of 2002, and he was never the same player and never lived up to expectations.

Howard said he will be interested to see where Dorsey is drafted and that if he drafted Dorsey, Balzer would look into making him have surgery before he even plays.

Exclusive Interview with Kevin Lynch from Niner Insider

As a St. Louis Rams fan I find myself wanting to know what is going on around the rest of the NFC West during this exciting pre-draft time. We thought we would go out and get the thoughts of those in the know, so we contacted Kevin Lynch, football writer for the Niner Insider. We would like to thank Kevin for taking time out for this interview. We asked Kevin the following:

Stlvinnie: As of April 10th who do you think the San Francisco 49ers will select in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft?

Kevin Lynch: The team has shown a lot of interest in Quentin Groves. GM Scot McCloughan personally attended his pro-day workout and Groves visited last week. The team did pick up Justin Smith in free agency but lost two players Marques Douglas (Tampa) and Bryant Young (retirement).

Stlvinnie: As an expert who do you believe would be the best selection for the St. Louis Rams to make with the #2 overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft?

Kevin Lynch: Glenn Dorsey makes sense for the Rams. It's so rare to find a defensive tackle who can also rush the passer. With him you get a great run stopper and pass rusher. Pressure up the middle can win games for you.

So Kevin believes what a lot of Rams fans are currently talking about and that is to pick up Dorsey and move Adam Carriker back to DE and strengthen two positions at one time. Will this be the move? We will find out in 11 days.

We would like to once again thank Kevin for his time and we hope to stay in contact with him for some Post-draft analysis.

Chris Long Falls Right Past the St. Louis Rams

This is a must draft for the St. Louis Rams to improve their overall talent level.

The Rams needs going into this draft will be an offensive lineman to protect Marc Bulger and improve the running game. A defensive lineman to put pressure on the opposing QB and to help out the thin linebacker and secondary core. Later in the draft the Rams will need to address linebacker depth and get a replacement for Isaac Bruce. With luck they may find a 3rd string QB to mold in rounds 6 or 7.

A lot of new information and rumors have been flying around the internet, Rams park, and the radio the last week. It appears the Miami Dolphins really are not interested in Chris Long or Glenn Dorsey. Bill Parcells loves the pass rush and Vernon Gholston currently seems to be their man. Playing a 3-4 the Dolphins will most likely pass on Chris Long and Dorsey.

So believe it or not Chris Long will fall right down to us, and from what I heard this week right past us! How can this be? Well it seems the Rams brass have a 3 man race with Chris Long, Jake Long and Glenn Dorsey. Currently Chris Long seems to be last in this race. It is currently 50/50 between Jake Long and Glenn Dorsey. Dorsey is the stud athlete that has coaches and player personnel men like Bill Devaney in awe. While Jake Long is the favorite of coach Scott Linehan because he is most likely to help keep Marc Bulger erect. So who will we choose? I believe Dorsey will win out with overall talent and the ability to improve the defense as a whole, instead of Jake Long who would probably be behind Orlando Pace and Alex Barron to start with. Glenn Dorsey is the immediate impact player and will be the St. Louis Rams first round selection.

With their second round pick the Rams may select an offensive tackle like Carl Nicks from Nebraska, or Sam Baker from USC or try to pick up a starting linebacker such as Jerod Mayo from Tennessee or Dan Connor out of Penn St.

I am still hoping for a Chris Long, Sam Baker combination.

What are your thoughts?

Bill Belichick is a Cheater!!!!

That's right even Matt Stone and Trey Parker of South Park know that Bill Belichick is a cheater! Watch the video below from youbeenblinded.com and you decide. Sure St. Louis Rams fans are still bitter. Three Superbowl victories by 3 points each time. Is he a genius or lucky? Neither he is a cheater! :)
